Shopping and Beauty events in Los Angeles can be a little
lopsided, when it comes to the range of sizes available. Curvy women are often
left out wondering why and when there will be an event where actual shopping
can be done.
Thanks to Tamika McDonald, the time has finally come. On
Sunday, April 10th, the curvy women of Los Angeles attended a special shopping
and beauty event appropriately named Kurvee. McDonald, the founder of this
event, created it for one reason only.
"Kurvee came out of frustration from attending other
shopping parties or girls night out events in Los Angeles, and not being able
to find clothes for my body type," said McDonald. "Our mission is to
create fun experiences and events for women with curves; which is most women. We
are not singling out a specific size; our events cater to all
women."
Vendors ranged from specialty boutiques, photographers,
beauty brands, and plus size designers. Shoppers were treated to free makeup
and eyelash applications, raffles, and sweet treats. Shopping at this event not
only felt natural, but there was no sense of being judged.
"My favorite part of the event was seeing
all of the women mix and mingle and the witnessing of new relationships that
were created here. While there was a lot of shopping going, there
was just as much laughter, conversation and women genuinely having a great
time," said McDonald when asked what the most memorable moment was.
Future plans for another Kurvee event can not be more
anticipated.
"In the next couple of weeks we are going to start
planning for our next shopping and beauty event," said McDonald. "And
we have a couple other projects on the table. More details coming
soon!"
The Kurvee fashionistas of Los Angeles will be waiting.
