Our Chat with Kimberly from, 10/01/2010
by Madeline Jones

We all want to look good, but sometimes we are cash poor or on a serious budget and we have to learn how to transition our items or shop on a budget. Kimberly, the blogger behind, offers great advice and fashion finds for those of us looking for awesome bargains.

Maddy: The world of blogging has evolved in recent years. What prompted you to begin blogging?

Kimberly: I was exposed to the great "blogosphere" in late 2007 and by January 2008 I just had to have one of my own!  At first, I thought it would just be a little place that I could document my fashion and shopping thoughts; then it grew to sharing my daily outfits and I actually started getting readers and comments which blew my mind, but made me so happy!  It has grown from there and provides me a great venue for my girly tendencies.

Maddy: You have a niche blog, catering to fashions under $50. Is it difficult to find "Fab Fashions" under $50?

Kimberly: I was raised to be a bargain shopper - it is in my genes, so I don't think so.  I wanted my blog to have a quality that set it apart from the other blogs out there.  I wanted it to be relateable by the average Jane, so I created the "under $50" theme.  Also, the majority of the items in my closet were under $50 when I bought them.  That doesn't mean I don't like higher end items or designer pieces, but it makes me smarter about shopping for them.

Maddy: At times, women can be intimidated when going shopping. How does your blog empower women to shop smart and feel confident about their purchases?

Kimberly: As my blog's header says, "Real Women, Real Fashion, Real Prices" and that is truly what I focus on.  I hope through my outfits and posts I can help women realize that dressing well and doing it on a budget can be easier than some think.  I try to focus on showing how an item can be remixed and worked into multiple outfits and to look at the individual items in your closet vs. the same outfit combination's over and over.  Hopefully armed with that knowledge, when my readers head to the store, they can have an idea of items that they can get a lot of use out of and will be confident with their purchases.

Maddy: How would you describe your personal fashion style?

Kimberly: Honestly, Schizophrenic!!  I admire the people that can sum of their style with phrases like "modern femininity" or "boho chic", but that isn't me.  One of the things that I enjoy most about clothes and outfits is being able to try new things and constantly evolving.
