I am always dreaming of spa getaways, where I can be pampered from
head to toe, float to cloud nine, and never return to earth again! So,
when I can't do that.... I reach for at home spa treatments instead! And
you can find most items right in your kitchen!
Here is my recipe for a fabulous salt scrub:
Artemis' Sea Salt Scrub for the Body
1 cup sea salt (you can do coarse, or semi fine or a mixture of both)
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
squeeze lemon juice (no pits)
(optional: you can add essential oils like almond extract from vanilla or rose if you like)
It will dissolve right in the shower, leaving your skin super soft and very moisturized!
Foot Soak
Set the mood first... put some ambiant music in the background, just
like they do at the spa! Make yourself a cup of wonderful green tea to
sip while you relax.
Fill a foot tub with hot water. Sprinkle some Himalayan salt crystals
(which offer a wonderful detox), some rose petals, half a lemon cut up
and some oil (jojoba, grapeseed, olive oil your choice). Let
them soak until they are very soft. Take a pumice stone and scrub at
your heels and other rough spots, until you have softened them to your
liking. Using an orange stick, push back your cuticles, and tend to
them as you like to tend to them. Using the salt scrub from
above, exfoliate and massage your feet, ankles and calves. Rinse.
Take them out and rub your favorite thick foot cream, and put on a pair
of cotton socks! Your feet will be very, very thankful ?
While you are soaking... place some cold tea bags or cucumber slices on
your eyes, This helps reduce puffuness, and is simply relaxing.
Facial Steam
Boil some water and pour it into a bowl. Place some flower
petals in the hot water, and place a towel over your head and the bowl.
Keep your face about 12 inches from the water itself. Steam for about
10 minutes. Pat dry, and apply your favorite mask for 10-15 minutes.
Moisturizing Mask Perfect for Winter or dry climates
1 avocado (mashed)
1 tbsp of honey
1/4 cup of heavy cream
Combine it in a bowl, and spread all over face and neck for 15 minutes. Then rinse with cool water!
