[Maddy] Was there a point in your life when you decide to follow a healthy lifestyle?
[Jen] Definitely! When I had applied to "The Biggest Loser," I knew I had
to change. I was just so frustrated that I never had any energy and
wanted to sleep all afternoon. I knew I wasn't eating well because I
made the excuse that I didn't have time to cook.
Since then, I have just
made living healthy a lifestyle. Working out and watching what I eat is
part of my everyday routine. Of course I do not limit and restrict
myself like what was required by my time on 'The Biggest Loser." Instead, I enjoy the
food that I eat, but I am conscious of what I put in my mouth and make
time to exercise. Now, I definitely enjoy the feeling of the blood rushing
though my body and the exercise "high" I get afterwards.
[Maddy] Tell me about your experience on "The Biggest Loser" and what inspired you to audition for the show?
[Jen] I was on season 2 of "The Biggest Loser" (Men vs. Women). I
heard
on the radio that there was an open call going on in Des Moines that
day. I decided to "Google" the show to see what it was about. I thought
to myself, "I would love to do this!" I wanted so desperately to
get healthy. I was so over-stressed and unfit that I couldn't even
walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded. I would drive a half
a mile rather than walk because it was hard for me to carry my books
without needing a rest.
[Maddy] What did you learn about yourself on the show?
[Jen] I learned that I am only what I allow myself to be. I learned
that I am the same person that left to California two years ago, but
I've been blessed with the ability to share my experience in hopes that
other women, plus like myself, can see that fitness does not always
mean a size 2!! That you can lead a healthy lifestyle and be happy at
any weight.
