I decided I wanted to do something
different for this month's Spotlight interview.I went into the PLUS archives and found a Spotlight gal from
2007 that I wanted to check back in with.I wondered if things had changed for her since being featured three
years ago and I got my opportunity to find out.Let's check in with our Spotlight Model from January 2007,
Adrienne Glenn.
Tiffany: What's been new and exciting with
you since checking in with us 2007?
Adrienne: What hasn't been new with me
since 2007?! My modeling career has slowly climbed to great new heights. While
there have definitely been some high and low, slow and quick moments, the
ultimate experience has been terrific. I feel like I finally have a
full portfolio, though I am always working to improve and strengthen it. I
also now have a ton of experience in all the fields of plus modeling, from
glamour to lifestyle, and from catalog to runway. I have a new fan page on Facebook
(come check me out). I signed with an agency for a short while, but
we weren't the perfect fit so now I'm on the hunt for a new agency! Is
the phone ringing yet? Wink, wink.
Tiffany: What is the plus market like in
the Bay Area?
Adrienne: I feel like the plus
market in the bay area is similar to everywhere in the sense that the
acceptance and interest in the idea of different sized models is growing, but I
think fashion in general has a "loooong" way to go in San Francisco. It
really surprises me that with the progressiveness of this city it seems like
San Francisco is on the cutting edge of political agendas, yet when it comes to
fashion we just don't have the interest. One could argue that
politics and ways of life outweigh the perfect little black dress in terms of
importance but isn't voting so much more fun in super hot stiletto pumps?!
Tiffany: Have you considered moving from San
Francisco to further pursue plus modeling?
Adrienne: Often.Every time I read castings for the wonderful plus model
opportunities in Los Angeles and New York I consider a move; and
while I truly do love the Bay Area and think of it as my home I love modeling and
would definitely consider a move if the situation presented itself. But
boy, would I miss the streets of San Francisco.
Tiffany: Are there any new designers you
would love to work for?
Adrienne: There is actually an up and
coming new designer that I've worked the runway for twice this year so far, and
she is absolutely wonderful. Jill Alexander makes clothes that are
amazingly comfortable, yet chic and flattering. I look forward to
seeing the distances she goes with her collection, because I know it's going to
be far. I have to love a woman whose goal is to make curvy women look
and feel stunning every single day. I'm also hoping that I see more
and more new designers making clothes that look amazing on everyone, not just
the teeny tiny girls.
Tiffany: What advice do you have to future
aspiring plus models?
Adrienne:Moisturize. Moisturize. Sleep. Moisturize some more. (laughs) Seriously
though, I am a huge advocate of a healthy lifestyle. I give it my
best effort to eat non-processed and organic foods that fuel me in the right
ways, workout very regularly (I'm addicted to yoga), and treat my body great
in general. I think that being a wonderfully curvy woman needs to
come with a healthy lifestyle, physically and mentally. The modeling
world is a tough business with accomplishments, as well as rejections, coming
at you all the time and you need have the foundations solid within your life to
have the strength to experience those ups and downs with the most positive of
attitudes.
Tiffany: Have you attended recently
or will you be attending any curvy events?
Adrienne:At the end of this month I will be attending and walking in Full
Figure Fashion Week(end) in Los Angeles. I can't tell you how
excited I am to be a part of this event.I get to wear designer clothes and meet so many of the curvy chicks in
the Plus Model community!
Tiffany: Who was the Photographer(s) and Makeup Artist(s) for the photo(s)?
