In the competitive world of Swimwear, Australia's Betty Diamond stands apart from all the rest. Maybe it's because the people behind this swimwear line are curvy and fabulous or it may be because they see the need for variety in size 12 and above. Whatever the reason you're in for a treat. Below we speak to Helen Cooper, designer for the BETTY DIAMOND line.

[Maddy] I have to say that I absolutely LOVE the main picture on the website.  Using women of different sizes and shapes is so refreshing to see. Can you tell us about the idea and concept behind the picture?

[Helen] The five women featured on our homepage are not models but as is very obvious from the joy and delight beaming out of the photograph, they are all at ease with themselves and beautiful in their own individual way.

The core of the BETTY DIAMOND philosophy is the aspiration that women celebrate how beautiful we are - just as we are – there is nothing more attractive than a woman who likes herself and is comfortable in her own skin.

[Maddy] Betty Diamond provides a select look of swimwear.  Can you tell me a little about the styles you provide?

[Helen] BETTY DIAMOND swimwear comes in 3 styles and only in black – it is the little black dress you swim in!  We wanted classic elegance which can be personalised by the individual.

We are a new company, and we're starting out small.  It took just under 4 years development to get the right strong, supportive, longwearing fabric and to get the fit as right as we could.

The bodies of the swimsuits are all the same, only the bra style changes (and they come in B, C, D, DD sizes) this is because we believe we have arrived at a very, very good fit for a real body. 

It is shaped and pieced like a tailored garment and the firm 2 way stretch fabric means the whole garment is working to hold and support the wearer's body. (We have clients who wear their BETTY DIAMOND as an undergarment because it supports the lower back so well). The bra styles are classic 50's swimsuit/ball gown designs which we believe suit everybody.
