When did you decide you wanted to be a plus model?
 
My interest in plus modeling began as a teenager. I started doing runway shows at about 14, but somewhere along the way, I let the fear take over and convinced myself that it wouldn't be in the cards for me, so I put it on hold for a few years. Later, when I was in college, I started doing shows again and from there, I got into fit modeling, I became more confident in myself and was able to get a thicker skin, which is so critical for this industry. That's when more jobs became available to me.
 
Who are your favorite curvy role models?
 
I have so many favorite curvy role models. I love women who tell the truth about their story as a curvy woman – they aren't afraid to be honest that we all have ups and downs and good days and bad days, but overall, they make no apologies for the way their bodies look. I really look up to Oprah, Queen Latifah, Kate Dillon, Jennifer Hudson and Emme. I also love the way Kelly Clarkson makes no apologies for her curves and embraces them wholeheartedly, that is so refreshing! Then of course, you have the newer crop of plus models that are inspiring, people like Fluvia Lacerda, Crystal Renn, Christina Mendez and Mia Amber Davis.
